TOUCHING COMMUNINITES THROUGH POVERTY ERADICATION PROJECTS BY EAGLE NEEMA CBO IN NYERI COUNTY

Eagle Neema is a community based organization founded in the year 2003 and registered in the year 2004. The organization gives care and support to Orphans and Vulnerable children and People Living with Disability and Marginalized groups within Nyeri, Murang’a and Isiolo counties.
The CBO is dedicated to improving the lives of vulnerable populations in Kenya. touching the lives of orphans and vulnerable children, and other underserved sections of the communities with an aim to build stronger and healthier Nation Kenya.
Presently the organization gives support to 10,000 (OVC) Orphans and Vulnerable Children and 1500 (PLWHIV) people living with HIV/AIDS. This is a total of 4600 households and of these 350 are people living with disability.The organization has a clear roadmap guided by their mission and vision.
Mission: Improve the quality of life of our community
Vision: A healthy community with improved livelihoods.
Our interventions are geared towards achieving our mission and vision. This is made possible through support of donors as well as well - wishers.

discrimination and supporting the marginalized groups, the organization addresses the challenges that face community on a daily basis leading to poverty. “One of the main challenges that affect our community is poverty” said Hellen Mukure -the Executive Director when Citizen journalist visited her office. With support from AAIM,the organization has been able to improve the livelihoods of the community through activities such as:
1. Household economic empowerment (HES) interventions through activities such as Support with Dairy goats, Support with Sewing machines, salon kits, small kiosks etc.
2. Support of Adolescents girls and young women with sanitary pads to keep them in school so that they can compete fairly with the boys, keep them in school so that they can build their future and realize their full potential.
3. Support church-based sensitization on HIV to retain the gains made. Just to mention but a few. In the previous months some of the beneficiaries have been supported with various interventions and their lives have been changed.
