RURAL INTEGRATED COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT ORGANISATION COLLABORATION WITH WVL PARTNERS

The Rural Integrated Community Development Organization (RICDO) in Migori County Nyatike Sub- County along Lake Victoria Region was on Wednesday, 9/11/2022 visited, by the WVL team from Care in Kenya and Uraia Trust as a Grantee under the Women Voices and Leadership Project.
Led by Care in Kenya's Communication and Reporting officer Pauline Njathi and Uraia Trust's team, comprised of Maureen Maina and Alice Kavi, the great team managed to sustain a monitory visit looking into the WVL project progress . The team sort to find out the impact the organization has had in it’s implementation as well as shortcomings. The WVL project aims to contribute to gender equality and the increased enjoyment of human rights by women and girls in Kenya.
Rural Integrated Community Development Organization (RICDO) is a women group organization formed and registered in 2018 in the Ministry of labor, social services and security. Our key target is reaching out to the most vulnerable women, strengthening women and girls rights, voice ,leadership and reduce poverty by economic empowerment through implementation fish farming enterprise to break ‘sex for fish trade ‘between women and fishermen along the lake.

• Additional fish ponds for production
• women have been capacity build on their rights
However, Most of the women in Migori are now empowered where they have started their own business from fish farming savings. They has greatly elevated their lives. Most of the youths who were jobless have been empowered and through business and training engagements, they have started the fish farming cage in Lake Victoria. This has led to reduced levels of poverty, family breakups, and crime. There has also been an incline in food insecurity in the area.
